Pet Peeves for Fan FictionI would believe that we all have got them, especially people who have been writing for many years and have begun to understand the very complicated and cryptic workings of story writing. Now, these pet peeves don't HAVE to be about Fan Fiction, specifically, but they seem to be the only things I'm reading nowadays, so it's the only thing I can go to at the moment. Though, there has been a time in one of the stories I've read where the girl is dumber than dumb could possibly get, but surely there's this bright side to the ridiculous choices they choose to make (like sleeping with a teacher, mostly for his looks, and later find out he only did it for some other women, who he liked and wanted to impress because she was evil and all that garbage, but his sentiments weren't returned at all....Ever...Yeah, if you've read the House of Night series, then you'll understand what I'm talking about here!).
Anyways, back to the matter at hand. Pet peeves of stories. First, I am going to describe in
Nukid101's inFAMOUS Review
Welcome everyone to my first review of something non-2014. I’ve been meaning to start doing this for a while now, but things like work and holiday have gotten in the way, but I’m here now starting my first review of the PS3 exclusive, inFAMOUS.
Why did I choose this game? Truthfully it was because I recently finished inFAMOUS: Second Son, and before I do my inevitable review of that game, I figured it would be good to look back on the previous entries of this series and give you my thoughts on each one; if only to contextualise what I think of the series overall. With that said and done, let’s dig in, shall we?
Nukid101’s inFAMOUS Review
In InFAMOUS, the player controls the protagonist Cole MacGrath, a bike messenger caught in the center of an explosion that devastates several city blocks of the fictional Empire City. The explosion sends the city into chaos while Cole finds himself with new electricity-based super powers. When Empire City
Sequel Let-Down Month - Spider-Man 3 Part 2
Peter does the first smart thing in this movie and he goes to Dr. Curt Connors (Dylan Baker) to have him analyze the organism. While Connors deices to wait until mooring to run tests, he warns Peter not to let it get on him as it's characteristics seem to be similar to that of "a symbiote, an organism that bonds with a host to survive." Now being the science-whiz, you'd think Peter would start listing off animal species that live in harmony in a symbiosis relationship, like remoras and sharks, but considering Peter and Dr. Connors have no idea what this thing is, I would listen to the guy.
Peter returns home in time to hear a police report describe a sandstorm following a bank robbery and figure out Marko is involved. He is about to don his red suit when he decides to disregard Dr. Connors and put on the Black Suit as he swings his way to the bank to investigate where he finds sand escaping down a storm drain. At the same time, Eddie Brock appears to take a picture but Spider-Man smash
Unicorn Twilight is still canon
Someone pointed this out to me and he's absolutely right! Think about it. Lauren Faust is the creator of this show, not Hasbro. Hasbro may own the rights, but it was Lauren Faust that made the Friendship is Magic series in the first place. She left at the beginning of Season 2. So everything that happens Post-The Return of Harmony, Season 3, Season 4 and the movies is considered "non-canon".
Whatever Meghan McCarthy does to the show won't matter because, non of it is canon to Friendship is Magic. Unless Hasbro hires Lauren Faust again, all of this is, what I like to call: "inside fanon". Fanon within a company.
Lauren Faust is the main source, everything else around it is third party.
Just because something is official, doesn't always mean it's canon.
So people who think Alicorn Twilight is canon, are wrong. Actually it is Unicorn Twilight that is still canon to this very day. That fact will remain, until the show creator, which is Lauren Faust, makes the changes herself.
Mekakucity Actors episode 1 Review
Today marked the release of Mekakucity Actors, an anime based off the popular song series Kagerou Project that has branched into a manga and light novel.
Ive been excited for this anime for quite awhile, but does it live up to the hype? Lets find out.
The episode starts with the main character Shintaro, a shut in NEET addicted to the internet, in his room browsing the web as Ene, a cyber girl who lives in his computer tries to persuade him into buying a bundle of sunscreen online. Shintaro lashes out at Ene, which causes soda to accidentally spill on his keyboard and short it out. This forces Shintaro to go outside for the first time in two years to buy a replacement, and well i'm not going to tell you the rest.
The first thing I'd like to point out is the animation. I heard that some people were not fond of the animation from previews, but I really liked the animation here.
After that is the story. I heard from several sources that the s
Sequel Let-Down Month - Spider-Man 3 Part 1
Welcome back to Nostalgiaviews as we continue our journey into disappointment with movie sequels that bit us in the asses when we hoped for something good.
This week's entry is another superhero film that brought negative feedback to the studios that also forced an official reboot; "Spider-Man 3."
Unlike X-Men, I'm very familiar with Spider-Man. My very first comic book I ever owned was a Spider-Man/Wolverine crossover. I've had quite a fondness of the superhero, I watched the shows, both the old CBS 1960's Spider-Man that has become the subject of Internet Memes lately, the 1990's Fox series "Spider-Man The Animated Series," that short-lived "Spider-Man: The New Animated Series" from 2003 that starred Neil Patrick Harris as Spider-Man and even the recent "Ultimate Spider-Man" has been getting some chuckles out of me. Point is, I grew up looking up to heroes like Spider-Man and yet the only good show about superheroes that came out around that point in time
Put the blade downFor those who are thinking about cutting or committing suicide in anyway, stop and read this.
Don't end yourself. This isn't the way to go. You have a life. You have people who care. Even if they don't seem like they care, they do. If your down so much, talk to someone. Suicide is not the answer to anything. Ever. There are ways you can get through this. Death is not a way. It just brings more grief to those around you. If it's depression, talk to someone. If it's bullies, Fight back or ignore them. They hide behind a fist. They hide because they are cowards. Trying to say they're tougher than anyone. Real strength isn't pushing someone down. It's helping others up. don't end your life when there's so much more out there for you. You can fight this. Believe in yourself. Find that inner strength. Pull it out. Don't give up. No matter how many time it seems hopeless.
The Top 30 Live Action TV Shows, 30-26
Ladies and gentlemen, some say TV kills brain cells. Others sneer and dismiss it as “the idiot box,” an instrument wielded by those in positions of authority to manipulate the masses, simply by painting a picture of a world out to get them. In doing so, the television breeds fear and discontent, paranoia and patriotism, until we’re all in the sway of [INSERT EASY JAB AT NEWS STATION OF CHOICE HERE].
But I say differently.
Well, all right, to an extent.
Yes, complete bastards pushing an agenda can repurpose the idiot box as a tool. Yes, there is a laundry list of programming (reality television, soap operas, etc) determined to degrade the collective intelligence of the general public. Yes, we live in a world where programs like Honey Booboo or networks like Lifetime are successful, and that’s the hard terrible truth.
Despite all this…
The television can be a tool for something greater.
A tool, a medium, for art; for great dramas; for great tragedies; for g
Supernatural Horror films are a dime a dozen nowadays, aren't they? You have your Paranormal Activities, your Conjurings, your Sinisters, and what not. Well here's another to add to the list but don't worry folks, this is a good one. A very, very good one I may add.
Some may scoff at the premise of some sort of possessed mirror causing all sorts of trouble like it sounds like something out of Goosebumps or that one sequel to The Amityville Horror that utilized the idea. But someone once said there are no bad ideas, just bad writers and well, whoever said that would be right. The film takes the idea of an evil mirror and runs with it through every step of the way and being clever about it in a psychological sense.
To start things off, we have Karen Gillan (yes, of Doctor Who fame) and Brenton Thwaites as our two leads and they have very good chemistry with each other-complementing each other with different viewpoints. Karen Gillan plays Kaylie, one who could say is a tad obsessed if you
Poltergeist was made in 1982 and was directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, who was also the screenwriter and came up with the story idea. The last time I saw this film I was 8 years old and some particular scenes stuck with me .Spielberg gives the creative energy and Hooper gives its dark element.
Its about a simple family living in a suburban neighborhood and are haunted by ghosts that are angry because it was built over a graveyard. They take an interest into 5 year old Carol Anne and then take her to their world. Now the parents are trying to get her back. Pretty much a ghost story.
There are two many memorable moments in the film. They are the subtle moments, like the white noise from the television set and the chairs stacking up. Then there are the "in your face" moments, such as the tree coming back to life and the scary clown.
The rumors that there was a curse on the set stemmed from the fact that they used real skeletons in the pool scene. Apparently, its ch
