Poltergeist was made in 1982 and was directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, who was also the screenwriter and came up with the story idea. The last time I saw this film I was 8 years old and some particular scenes stuck with me .Spielberg gives the creative energy and Hooper gives its dark element.

Its about a simple family living in a suburban neighborhood and are haunted by ghosts that are angry because it was built over a graveyard. They take an interest into 5 year old Carol Anne and then take her to their world. Now the parents are trying to get her back. Pretty much a ghost story.

There are two many memorable moments in the film. They are the subtle moments, like the white noise from the television set and the chairs stacking up. Then there are the "in your face" moments, such as the tree coming back to life and the scary clown.

The rumors that there was a curse on the set stemmed from the fact that they used real skeletons in the pool scene. Apparently, its cheaper then to make rubber skeletons. Many of the cast died soon afterward, the most famous being Heather O'Rourke, who died at the age of 12 from a misdiagnosed liver disorder.

As a horror movie fan, there were many moments I thought wee really good. My favorite was near the end, when all the ghosts were coming out and looked really scary.

The parts that really got me was when the parents are trying to get her back. I believe the love between a parent and their child is powerful and the desperation of the parents trying to get their daughter back really choked me up.

Carol Annes line' "They're here" has been parodied so many times that its practically a cultural icon.

All in all, a great movie, a real cult classic. This is a movie you wont get tired of. Just watch it in the daytime, it wont be as scary. Also, if you found out that you are living on top of a burial ground, pack your stuff and get the hell out of there!

The curse of this movie is a bit creepier then what you listed. One person from each movie died, they actually had sets exorcized before shooting scenes, and some of the actors from the first two refused to come back because they thought the movies were cursed.

Only the stairs that Karras falls down at the end. The stairs are supposedly cursed. The movie people actually were so scared about possible accidents that they used a stunt man and they only did two takes on the stairs.
